Time It Appropriately

When is the best time to make that career pivot?

Leaving a job isn't a black or white decision. The ideal time to look for a job is when you already have one. Hands down, no question about it.

But when is it okay to quit your job without another lined up?

As you already know, I quit first.

I used the time off to get my health, sanity and life back in alignment. And it sparked my interest in getting my finances in order too.

Soon, I realized that I did not want to rely solely on an employer for a paycheck and health insurance. So taking that time off was priceless in so many ways.

I gained so much clarity and was able to spring forward with more momentum than if I continued to muscle through going from one job right into another.

I do not recommend quitting without another job lined up. Ever.

It’s not for the faint of heart. However, you know yourself best. You know when you've hit a breaking point.

The key is to mentally, emotionally, physically and energetically prepare as much as possible in advance. Even without a Plan B lined up, you can still do a lot of heavy lifting.

So do yourself a favor and give yourself options by getting your finances in order ASAP.

Establish a solid financial runway and time your career pivot according to what makes most sense for you.
